渋谷区の外苑西通り沿いに建つワタリウム美術館や、サンフランシスコ近代美術館（SFMoMA）の設計でも知られるスイスの建築家 Mario Botta（マリオ・ボッタ） が、1985年にデザインした名作チェア「Quinta（クインタ）」。
製造は、ジャンドメニコ・ベロッティの「スパゲッティチェア」や、ボッタの「セコンダ」を手掛けたイタリアの前衛的家具メーカー Alias（アリアス）社。弧を描くアームが印象的なブラックフレームに、希少な ペパーミントグリーンのパンチングメタルシート が組み合わされたスタイリッシュな一脚です。
座高は42cmとやや低めに設計され、ハイバック構造による快適な座り心地を実現。強い造形性と実用性を併せ持ち、インテリアに彫刻的な存在感をもたらします。
座面やフレームにはわずかなスレや小傷が見られますが、ヴィンテージの風合いを損ねるものではなく、全体として非常に良好なコンディションを保っています。

Mario Botta / Quinta Chair – Alias (1985 Design / Peppermint Green)
The Quinta Chair was designed in 1985 by Swiss architect Mario Botta, internationally recognized for landmark projects such as the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).
Manufactured by Alias, the Italian avant-garde furniture company also known for Giandomenico Belotti’s Spaghetti Chair and Botta’s Seconda, the Quinta combines sculptural presence with refined industrial design. Its striking composition pairs a bold black steel frame with a rare peppermint green perforated metal seat, accented by gracefully curved armrests.
With a seat height of 42 cm, slightly lower than standard, and a supportive high backrest, the chair offers both comfort and visual impact. A functional seating object as well as an architectural statement, it remains one of Botta’s most celebrated furniture designs.
The piece shows light wear and minor scratches on the seat and frame consistent with age and use, but overall retains an excellent vintage condition without compromising its aesthetic appeal.
