1989年、福岡に誕生した「ホテル イル・パラッツォ」は、巨匠アルド・ロッシが建築を、内田繁がディレクションとインテリアデザインを手がけ、さらに田中一光、倉俣史朗、エットレ・ソットサス、ガエタノ・ペッシェら、時代を代表するクリエイターたちが競演したデザイナーズホテルの先駆けとして知られています。
そのエレベーターホールのためにデザインされた床置き型クロック「Dear Morris」を小型化し、同年に誕生したのが卓上クロック「Dear Vera」です。過去にはイタリアのALESSI社からも製品化されたこの名作が、35年の時を経て「Dear Vera II」忠実に復刻されました。
金属製の本体に腕時計用ムーブメントを組み込むという特殊な構造や、ALESSI版の細いバーインデックスを持つ文字盤デザインを継承する本作は、精緻な加工技術を有するウォッチ工房、内田デザイン研究所、クロックメーカーのタカタレムノスが協働して実現。
Dear Veraという名はロッシの娘「Vera」へのオマージュであり、同じ時代を生きた二人の巨匠の深い友情と創造性を映し出す特別なクロックです。
今回入荷した個体は初回生産50個の内の「48」と「49」のシリアルナンバー入りの限定品です。

内田繁がディレクションとインテリアデザインを、20世紀後半を代表する巨匠アルド・ロッシが建築を手掛けたほか、田中一光や倉俣史朗、エットレ・ソットサス、ガエタノ・ペッシェら、当代を代表するデザイナーが競演した、デザイナーズホテルの先駆けともいえる存在でした。
ホテル イル・パラッツオ開業の翌年、1990年にロッシが建築界のノーベル賞「プリツカー賞」を受賞。1991年には同ホテルがアメリカ国外の建築物として史上初の「アメリカ建築協会（AIA）名誉賞」を受賞するなど、ホテル イル・パラッツオは世界的にも注目を集めるプロジェクトとなりました。
Hotel Il Palazzo was established in Fukuoka in 1989. Designed by master architect Aldo Rossi and featuring interior design by Shigeru Uchida, it is recognized as a pioneering designer hotel, having collaborated with renowned creators of the era, such as Ikko Tanaka, Shiro Kuramata, Ettore Sottsass, and Gaetano Pesce.
In the same year, the floor-standing clock "Dear Morris," designed for the elevator hall, was scaled down to create the desk clock "Dear Vera." This masterpiece was produced by the Italian company ALESSI and has been reissued 35 years later as "Dear Vera II."
It inherits the unique structure of incorporating a wristwatch movement into a metal body and the dial design with thin bar indices from the ALESSI version. It was realized through the collaborative efforts of Uchida Design Institute's watch workshop, which possesses precise processing technology, and clock manufacturer TAKATA Lemnos Inc.
The name "Dear Vera" is a tribute to Rossi's daughter, Vera, and this special clock reflects the deep friendship and creativity of the two masters who lived in the same era.
The limited editions now in stock have the serial numbers "48" and "49" from the initial production run of 50 pieces.
Please use the included stick when removing the movement parts (dial section) from the main body.
The protective sticker on the back cover of the movement parts prevents scratches during removal. Please do not remove it.

Designed and directed by Shigeru Uchida and featuring collaborations with contemporary designers such as Ikko Tanaka, Shiro Kuramata, Ettore Sottsass, and Gaetano Pesce, this hotel was designed by one of the greatest architects of the latter half of the 20th century, Aldo Rossi. This hotel was a pioneer in the field of designer hotels.
The year after Hotel Il Palazzo opened, in 1990, Rossi won the Pritzker Prize.
